FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Who are you? Who posts here?
Hi, my name is Emily :) I’m a 22 year old college student and creator of this blog. I post, re-blog, accept submissions and occassionally add text to images myself. Aside from the general blog management that I do, I have a wonderful team of Featured Makers who help me with the large numbers of requests we get around here. They also frequently submit their own fantastic work! To learn more about them, click here: Featured Makers

What can I expect to see here?
On this blog, you will find high quality images with thought provoking quotes/song lyrics/thoughts.

Do you take requests?
Yes, we happily take image requests here. You can either submit the quote you want to see used alone, or submit an image with it. After receiving your request, I will post it in the “Current Requests” section of the blog so that the Featured Makers (FMs) can see it. Either I or one of the FMs will make the image for you.

Just a gentle reminder: please don’t be upset if your request is not filled right away. We get a lot (and I mean A LOT) of requests here so sometimes it might take us a while to make the image for you. But we do get your messages and take all of them into consideration.

How will I know when my request has been made?
Please check the Current Requests section. If the quote you suggested is on this list, it means that it hasn’t been made yet. If it’s not on this list after you’ve submitted it, I either haven’t gotten to it yet or it has been made. Check the blog to see if your quote has been used. Many times, the FMs will put the username of whoever requested the quote. :)

How do I submit my own Image Quote?
Please visit the submit page

Have you posted my submission? If not, can you let me know what I should do to improve?
I’ve been getting this question a lot lately. It’s really difficult to answer everyone who asks because I usually have a ton of images in the queue at a time (like, over 100), so it becomes harder and harder to see if a specific user’s image was approved. All I ask is that you guys please be patient and wait a few days after you’ve submitted to see if I approved it :)

If you see that you haven’t been approved (a few days after you submitted), there may be a few reasons why. I’m really lenient about what I post, but I ask that the images be high quality (aka, don’t save them in Microsoft Paint), use clear fonts (I won’t post things with “jokey” fonts like Comic Sans MS, Kristen ITC, Brush Fonts, complicated cursive, etc.) Also, I have to be able to read what it says ;) If you follow those guidelines you should be fine! Also, see the question below.

Why hasn’t my Image Quote been posted?
This could be for a number of reasons. Please check the submission guidelines on the submit page to make sure that your particular submission meets these guidelines. I’m very strict about these as I want a certain quality to be maintained on the blog :)

Images may also not be posted if they are not uploaded directly from your computer - otherwise, they stretch out the page and I can’t keep saving them to my computer to post them. If your image does fit this criteria and it still hasn’t been submitted, please remember that we get many submissions and you may have to wait a bit for yours to be posted. Please be patient :)

Someone has used my image without my permission / I want you to delete the submission / alter the credit.
I would like to make it very clear to all readers on this blog that we do not endorse the practice of altering images without asking permission from the photographer first (whenever possible).

Please keep in mind that many times users come across images on other sites, and are not aware that the images are under copyright.

If you see that your image has been used without your permission and you would like the post to be removed, kindly send a message with a link to the post and a link to where you have your original image uploaded (a Flickr account, photobucket, etc.) I will happily take down the post so that your image is not spread in a way that you do not wish it to be.

Also, if you have no problem with the post being up here but would like credit for taking the original photo, please send me a link where your photo is hosted and I will add it to the post immediately.

We understand that this particular issue can be a sensitive one. Therefore, we kindly ask that you remain calm and understand that we will not keep any work up here that the original photographer asks to be removed. Just send us a message so that the issue can be resolved as quickly as possible.

Do I have to use my own images for the quotes that I submit?
The short answer to this question is “no.” However, if you read the question above, you know how important it is to ask the photographer for permission before editing an image. I understand that sometimes this isn’t possible or you may not know who the original photographer is. Just try your best to fully credit the source (or site where you got the image) whenever you use an image that you have not created yourself.

What is a “Featured Maker”?
A Featured Maker, or a “friend” of Image Quotes as I like to call them, is someone who consistently submits high quality image quotes to this blog, is willing to accept requests and is friendly and helpful! To learn more about these great bloggers and their creations, visit Featured Makers

What are the benefits of becoming a “Featured Maker”?
The major benefit of becoming a Featured Maker at Image Quotes is having your work promoted to thousands of followers at a time! You also have the opportunity to be a part of this lovely community, make friends and show off your artistic skills.

How can I become a Featured Maker? What is the criteria for being accepted?
Please see Become a Featured Maker for instructions on how to become a Featured Maker.

My guidelines are very simple. I ask that you submit images that are high quality, have no English/grammatical errors, and are submitted correctly (directly from your computer). :)

Can I submit a link to the post on my blog that has the image I want to submit in it?
You can, but I really prefer that you submit the image via the submit page and upload it directly from your computer.

Where do you get your images?
Some of my favorite sites include Flickr.com, Weheartit.com, imagefave.com, sayingimages.com and others.

What program do you use to make your images / how do you make your images?
The program that I use to edit my images is called Paint.net. Not the site, but the program. I like it because it has a lot of add-ons that you can download for certain image effects like feather and text outline. It’s free, which is always a plus, and pretty easy to use. It has a lot of cool image editing effects you can use too.

And, after doing a quick survey with the Featured Makers and other submitters, these are some of the programs/sites that they use:

  • Picnik.com
  • Gimp
  • Picasa 3
  • Photoshop
  • Corel Paint Shop Pro XI
  • iPhoto
  • Adobe Lightroom

How do I get more followers for my blog?
I’ve gotten this question a lot, and I have to say that there is no one magic answer that will give you tons of followers at a time. However, I have found that consistently posting quality content, having followers recommend your blog in its appropriate category and properly tagging posts gets a lot of followers coming in.

Can you promote my blog? I’ll promote yours in return.
The only way I will promote your blog is if you find me during one of the “find me on Omegle” games. I will make a post when these happen. If anyone tells you otherwise, they’re messing with you.
